i just found out that there is a German exchange student that rides my bus home from CHS. I was asking her alot of questions about learning english, since we wher talking about it in class. She has been taking english classes in germany for two years now and came to america to experiance it for a year. She didnt always understand my questions and sometimes she even took out a dictionary. It was hard for her to understand my friend's country accent and she told me she didnt understand when she heard swear words on the bus. In relation to what mrs. yeats was talking about today, Nela told me that it had cost a lot and she could only pack to weigh 25 (i dont remember the unit she used) and that isnt very much. She says she never relized how much she needed her family until she was here. They have to send her money and the group that sent her here only lets her write letters in english.
Just thought u might like to know.
That is very neat! Please Tell her I hope she gets as much as she can from her experience here in America!

ReplyDeleteSorry....different person. On mine and Hailey Wright's bus, we have a German exchange student that goes to NWHS and she is a junior. She is really cool to talk to!!
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing, Haley! I love that what we talked about in class showed up outside of school!
ReplyDeleteIs a foreign exchange student program of association that has just had its students arrive in Clarksville? My sister's past 9th grade teacher is housing a foreign exchange student from Austria. She came to Clarksville this week.
